Terry and Kathy Sullivan Visit 1,000th Winery

Columbia, Maryland - September 30, 2013 - Terry and Kathy Sullivan of WineTrailTraveler.com have reached a milestone thousands of miles from their Columbia, Maryland home. Since late 2006, the couple has visited winery/vineyard tasting rooms in North America, Europe and Oceania. They write an article about each winery and vineyard they visit. In March of 2013 they visited their 900th winery/vineyard in Croatia. Six months later, they visited their 1,000th winery in the country Georgia, Sakartvelo.

The country Georgia was a fitting location for the couple’s 1,000th visit. “Georgia is on the precipice for becoming one of the world’s best wine tourist destinations. It will rival Napa, Bordeaux and Toscono,” says Terry Sullivan, co-owner of Wine Trail Traveler, LLC. Georgia’s grape growing and winemaking history date back to 8,000 years ago, long before the Ancient Greeks and Romans spread vineyards and winemaking. The country is home to more than 540 wine grape varieties. Wine enthusiasts can taste wines made from varietal grapes they have not tasted in other wine regions in the world. Their 1,000th winery visit was at Shavnabada Monastery on Shavnabada Mountain overlooking Tbilisi.
